Serious about Food

Kirkstile's team of six chefs are serious about good food. We have a deserved reputation for unpretentious, home-cooked meals and place great emphasis on local Cumbrian and Lake District suppliers.

Home Cooked

Led by Head chef Paul Williamson, the talented kitchen team aim to provide great quality food in a relaxed environment. Coming to Kirkstile is not just for a special occasion. We believe that a good night out with home cooked food should not be prohibitively expensive. Traditional dishes such as Shepherds Pie, Lakeland Steak and Ale Pie and slow cooked Lamb Shank feature on our menus throughout the year. Lakeland Fillet Steak and Penrith Chicken are always on our highly prized chalk specials board which changes daily. Watch out also for such dishes as Sticky Toffee Pudding and Glazed Lemon Tart.

We always have two Sunday Roasts on and a healthy children's menu is available.

Local and Seasonal

Although something of a cliche, we were actually one of the pioneers of buying local produce. From our local cheeseboard and Waberthwaite Dry Cured Ham to Gilcrux Trout and Lorton-reared Rare Breed Pork, we always seek out the best of local produce. We will be bringing you more on our local pedigree in the future.

Our menus change regularly and our specials change each day.
